Take a Veteran Fishing

Members of the Rod and Gun Club have started taking residents of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls out for a day of fishing on Lake Wissota. The event ends up at the clubhouse where a they are invited to a cookout where they are able to have a meal of the fish that they catch. The event is planned for the June 15, June 29, July 20 and July 27, August 17, and August 31. The event will start at 9am at the Rod and Gun Clubhouse/boat landing and will go till 1pm. There are some dates on Saturdays which should give more people an opportunity to help. Be sure to sign up early as the spots fill up fast. Call Jim Gunn @715-723-6917 to sign up.

On August 13, 2015 we asked the Boys and Girls club to join in on the fishing activities. They had fun learning how to cast and were able to fish from the shore along the club grounds. They also were able to learn some basic survival skills in woods behind the club grounds.

We are always looking for pontoons to take the Veterans out fishing. For more information or to help with this project, Call Jim Gunn @ 715-723-6917
