Tree Sales

In the spring of 1996 the Chippewa Rod & Gun Club
first offered seedling trees for sale to the public. In the first nine years the
club has distributed over 140,000 seedling trees. The club decided they would
start the project with the hope that shoreline landowners would be help to
diversify the species of trees and shrubs along the banks of Lake Wissota and
the Rivers of the county.
This year the Club has again teamed up with Paint Creek
Nursery and Gordy’s True Value to offer seedling trees and shrubs to the
public. Since the Chippewa Rod
& Gun Club is not a government entity, the trees are offered without
restrictions. City and suburban residents are able to order any number from one
to thousands and plant the seedlings as they wish instead of being restricted to
purely conservation planting. The Club started the project with conservation and
shoreline restoration in mind and is achieving the wonderful effect of urban and
suburban homeowners planting trees and shrubs for shade, wildlife, birds, and
esthetic appeal. The Club does
support and encourage conservation planting, but anyone is welcome to order.
It should be remembered that these are seedling trees and shrubs. If
they are planted for landscaping you should plant twice as many as you
really want and thin them out a couple of years later, since it is possible
not all will survive.
Larger trees are available at very attractive prices.
